The 2017 edition of the cycle network map for South East Cheshire is now available, published by the South East Cheshire Cycle Action Group (SECCAG) .
The map is a collection of detailed town maps for Congleton, Middlewich, Holmes Chapel, Sandbach and Alsager, with a larger map of the area showing possible links between the towns.

The campaign is busy working with town councillor Suzie Ackers-Smith, who was instrumental in bringing the Tour of Britain to Congleton.
The result is the Tour of Britain Legacy Committee who are working on ideas to ensure this event has a lasting effect on the area by improving its health and wealth. Good news and bad news. Two cycle-related submissions were made to Cheshire East for funding related to cycling. One (for signage and a feasibility study for improving the cycle network in town) did not make it into the second round, but the other ie The Town Hall and Friends Sprint Triathlon Event on 23rd April 2017 did.

We've been busy putting together an ambitious wishlist plus some cheap and cheerful quick fixes (will post these later) to improve the Congleton Cycle Network, as requested by town councillor Suzie Akers-Smith, the force behind the success of the 2016 Tour of Britain stage held here in Cheshire East.

Bring your bike and enjoy a fun Cyclerun ride on Saturday 20th August from Astbury Mere Country Park visitor centre to Congleton town centre, following shortcuts and quiet back streets that are part of a national cycle route (the 573). No hills!
Collect your cycle route map at the visitor centre. Come along any time between 11.30 and 2.30, and when you get to the town centre, look for the gazebo in the pedestrian area for free refreshments and Cycle Tour of Britain information.
Check out the new bike racks, under cover, at Congleton station. They’re on the northbound/booking office side of the station, on the edge of the car park, not on the platform.

There will be Macc. Canal towpath work from 16th March onwards, so the towpath will be closed.
