What's Bikeability? The 21st century version of the cycle proficiency test. There are three levels, and the aim is that by the end of 2012, half a million children will have had Bikeability training. There's more info on the Bikeability website, but details of where courses are available seems out of date, as Congleton isn't listed yet. So ask your school for more details or contact CCC who will pass on your query to Heather.

Children have to be at least 10 years old, and need eight hours training to reach level 2 for short journeys (such as to school). Level 3 training is given on a 1:1 basis.

Most local schools are involved.

See Cycling Confidence Camps 2010 for the calendar of training events for children and adults from July to October 2010. Congleton residents are eligible for this free training.

Stoke's updated cycle map of the area is also now available, showing the area's network of quiet roads and traffic-free routes such as canal towpaths and ex railway lines. Link into this from Congleton using the Biddulph Valley Way (route 55). Alternatively use the train, or the canal towpath, to Kidsgrove. See Stoke cycle maps for ordering details.
