Upcoming meetings
8pm, Monday September 1st 2008
Bar, Congleton Leisure Centre, Worrall Street, Congleton, CW12 1DT
A vitally important meeting to discuss co-ordinating the various local bike user groups and campaigns (Congleton, Macclesfield, Knutsford, Crewe, Nantwich) for a solid cycling presence and to represent cyclists' views to the new Cheshire East local authority that will operate from April 2009. Please come along and express your views. Email Peter Hall for more details.
If time there will be a report on the recent meeting with Cheshire County Council to assess the feasibility of using the Macclesfield Canal towpath for access to the Biddulph Valley Way (National Cycle Route 55) from Henshall Hall and the railway station, Hightown.
CCC sponsors cycle training
What's Bikeability? The 21st century version of the cycle proficiency test. There are three levels, and the aim is that by the end of 2009, half of all Year Six pupils will have passed. There's more info on the Bikeability website, but details of where courses are available seems out of date, as Congleton isn't listed yet. So ask your school for more details or contact CCC who will pass on your query to Heather.
Children have to be at least 10 years old, and need eight hours training to reach level 2 for short journeys (such as to schoo). Level 3 training is given on a 1:1 basis.
The Quinta is the latest local school to become involved.
