We have now discovered that the Triathlon funding bid has not made it through to Decision Day, so there are no cycle-related projects being considered, but there are still many local community groups applying for funds, so your presence and votes are still required if you want to have your say.

Good news and bad news. Two cycle-related submissions were made to Cheshire East for funding related to cycling. One (for signage and a feasibility study for improving the cycle network in town) did not make it into the second round, but the other ie The Town Hall and Friends Sprint Triathlon Event on 23rd April 2017 did.

What? Vote for more funds to start filling in the gaps in the Congleton cycle network. Cheshire East is holding a Decision Day for locals to listen to various community project proposals.
Where? Congleton Town Hall.
When? Sat 28th Feb 2017 from 9.30am-noon
How? Anyone 12 or older can vote, but you have to vote in person and MUST REGISTER before 9.50am, listen to the all the proposed projects and then vote (from 10-11am).

Cycle to the Congleton Food and Drink Festival, and enjoy your picnic in the town – there are plenty of food stalls to stock up! There will be a secure cycle parking area (being organised by us) in the Memorial Gardens – it will be signposted.

Sun 16th June 2013: 10.30am. Bike Week Event: Pedalling Picnic from Congleton Town Hall to Biddulph Grange Country Park via the Biddulph Valley Way, at a leisurely pace. Lycra not essential! Find our stall at the Food and Drink Festival and sign up to come along. Bring your own picnic – toilets and usually hot drinks on sale at the country park. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Back in town for about 2pm for time to enjoy the festival.

Where should we have our stand this year?
Usually it’s opposite the town hall, and handy for the start of the pedalling picnic. However we have the choice of Little St, with the Congleton Sustainability Group, or our usual spot.

The Tour of Britain cycle race passes close to Congleton, not once but twice, soon.
Mon Sep 10th: from the Cat and Fiddle, cyclists turn right at Bosley crossroads, left at Fool's Nook and then via Gawsworth to Siddington crossroads (feed station) to a sprint at Chelford before heading for Knutsford and then Warrington.

Sun 17th June: assemble from 10.15 at Congleton Town Hall for 10.30am departure.
This is a Bike Week Event where we pedal from Congleton to Biddulph Grange Country Park via the Biddulph Valley Way. We ride to the country park on a mostly traffic-free route to meet up with Stoke-on-Trent cyclists who have pedalled northwards. Bring your own food for a picnic at the country park.
